沖縄ホラーフィルム Okinawa Horror Films■司会：入江 貞四郎(Sadashiro Irie)

今回紹介するパネルディスカッションの一部である沖縄のホラー映画は、日本の多くに見られる恐怖とは異なる個性を持ちます。
「日本の恐ろしいホラー映画は復讐を主題に持ちますが、私の映画は沖縄県に昔から伝わる迷信や言い伝えをテーマとして制作しています。私のホラー映画のテーマは沖縄の古い信念を今の若年者に言い伝え教訓として学んでもらいたいと思っています。それらを表現するためにホラー映画の形をとっています。沖縄のホラーは日本の内容とは全く違います。」と新垣ヨシヒロ監督は言いました。沖縄から賞賛されたホラー映画製作者のコメントです。彼は沖縄映画コンテンツのパネラーでした。
What makes horror films from Okinawa so exceptional is that they differ from mainstream horrors that tend to display as much gores as possible just to sell. To give their films the utmost terror, Horror filmmakers normally concentrate on the process of production and editing, rather than the plot.
“Horror films, especially the Japanese horrors, are basically about vengeance, which is different from Okinawa horrors whose themes come from local culture and superstition and this is where my films also derived from. The themes of my films are based on local incidents and I tried to add a moral lesson to each of them because I kind of want to pass on these good old beliefs to younger generations. I use horror film as a cultural tool. It is also a tool to promote Okinawa in a way.” said Yoshihiro Arakaki, an acclaimed horror filmmaker from Okinawa, on the uniqueness of Okinawa Horrors. He was one of the speakers in “Panel Discussion on Okinawa Films.”
